Runway Debut
In 1965 Paris, the rain is plummeting from the heavy, dark clouds and ricocheting off the saturated pavement. A young man by the name of Leon Claude Duhamel is spectating from the dry confines of a café as disgruntled Parisians rush by in wet clothes. Suddenly it hits him like a flash flood during an English summer – lightweight, nylon pac-a-macs! And just like that, K-Way was born. Well 57 years later K-Way Sportswear brand hosted its first ever (men’s & women’s) runway show in Milan, Italy.
The show marked a milestone for the brand, which is known for their colorful windbreakers. The brand has dabbled in a few partnerships with the likes of DSquared2 and Fendi as they inched their way into the luxury market.
Known for bright colors, Designer Monica Gamberoni doesn’t shy away from the K-Way formula, and the latest collection blends the classic K-Way yellow, orange, and blue tape design with brighter fushia and green. The collection is strong on silhouettes and is unapologetically fresh.
